In an attempt to shake things up a bit and mesh three things I love—writing, being a mother, and design, I decided to create these posts titled "This Writer Mom." Based on color and style, I will match pictures of "mothers" to their ideal writing (and perhaps lounging or dining location). It's a fun way to incorporate design elements into my blog while still maintaining a focus on writing. Hope you enjoy!
This stylish mother...
Sleeps here... Writes here....
What is your preferred place to write, read, or just unwind after a long day?
Well I can definitely say I do not look like that! I don't have kids either! I love reading in bed or in my library (Yup I do have one). I love to unwind watching TV. It sounds like I am bad doing that but after a long day at work, I enjoy it and I also unwind in my new craft room
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can only dream of looking like that! You do have a nice craft room to unwind in! :)
DeleteMy writing space looks nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteMine either! But one can dream...
DeleteI've dreamed of getting a big, cushy reading chair. With a nice lamp that hits the reading spot just right. Someday... (Bonus, this would be a great knitting chair, too.)
ReplyDeleteBig, cushy reading chairs are the best! :)
DeleteWhat a fun series! When I write, I'm mostly cozy on my couch with my laptop on my lap and a cup of chai nearby. And when it's not raining, I have a lovely view of the woods behind our house. But I love her beautiful desk and the bookshelves behind...
ReplyDeleteI like to cozy up on the couch or my bed when I write! I'm not one for desks...The view behind your house sounds lovely.
DeleteI like that writing space, but mine looks a little different. A smaller room with messy desk. Sometimes I'll take my laptop and sit wherever though.
ReplyDeleteThat's the great thing about a laptop, you can write anywhere. LOVE my laptop—I'd be lost without it!
DeleteSuch an interesting and fun idea for posts! I think you put her where she belongs, but she'd better not wear that dress where I live. She'd freeze. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha! So true. She'd need a few more layers before she tried to brave the Maine weather! :)
DeleteHahah that model does not look motherly in the least! But if she really were those kids' mom, I agree with your picks for her sleeping and writing spaces. I would want to write in the sleeping space too!
ReplyDeleteLol! No, she doesn't look very motherly, does she?! That sleeping space would be my writing preference also! :)
DeleteLOL! Being that fashionable takes way too much effort! When would we write? ;)
ReplyDeleteTo unwind, I like to hide in my room, on my bed, in the dark. That way the kids can't find me.
Unleashing the Dreamworld
Love that last line,"That way the kids can't find me." Haha!
DeleteAnd it even works sometimes. ;)
DeleteI like this idea! I assume you'll be posting several of these?
ReplyDeleteShe looks fantastic. I . . . just no. Not with teeny ones or with time to write. I think I'd like to add a picture of her Nanny lol Also I wish I could write and sleep in her "spots" I think those were good choices for her :)
I literally write anywhere...on public transit, at my desk, waiting at the doctor's office. Time is the elusive factor...I'll write anywhere time allows me to:)
ReplyDeleteI think the woman should've worn black shoes. Just sayin'. ;)
ReplyDeleteWith all the glitz around her neck, I agree with your choices of sleeping and writing locations.
This unstylish mom wears baggy sweats, sleeps in baggy sweats, and writes from the man cave. Thank God I already bagged a good man or I'd be out buying cats.
ReplyDeleteOMG, can you do fifty more of these? So fun!! And it's a nice fantasy escape, since my clothes/bedroom/office look absolutely nothing like this. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI like your new series! And your room pics look spot on. I have to say, though, that I can't imagine anyone with kids (and without a nanny) looking like that. I have a small den where I write with my computer and with enough book shelves to allow me to call it a library. It has lots of Hobbit and LOTR figures and LEGO sets and elves and dragons and such. It's my special space.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...is it just me or does anyone else think that woman in the picture is neither a mother nor a writer?!
