The main thing I want to accomplish with this blog post today is to inspire anyone out there who might be feeling down about their writing, who might be ready to quit, or who might be feeling the beat down of rejections or bad reviews.
This business is hard and sometimes you have to have super tough, rhinoceros-hide type skin. If you take anything away from this IWSG post, it's that you should never give up. If you love to write but aren't yet published—don't give up. If you're an author who has a publishing contract, but your readership is low—don't give up. If you're a writer who's struggling to make it to the bestsellers list—don't give up. And if you're wondering why I'm repeating the same words over and over, it's because I need to hear them more than anyone else. So, as you read through these quotes, commit yourself to move forward, work harder, and NEVER GIVE UP.
This is great advice that we all need to remember, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteExcellent, Kristin! Thanks for the encouragement and for sharing these quotes. :)
ReplyDeleteAny time! :)
DeleteNever give up, never surrender!
ReplyDeleteAmen! :)
DeleteI think this post deserves a RAWR!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes! Love it. :)
DeleteInspiring post, and much needed right now. Thanks!
ReplyDelete=) I'll add my two bits: If all else fails, eat cheese and be happy. Every day brings its challenges, and what seems impossible one day will like like cheddar the next.
ReplyDeleteFantastic post, Kristin! Exactly what I needed to hear right now :). I like this quote too: "Courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day whispering ‘I will try again tomorrow’" - it always reminds me that it's that quiet determination to succeed that keeps you going, and so long as you keep at it, you'll get there in the end :).
ReplyDeleteI'm not smart enough to give up on writing. I'll keep plugging away at it until I finish all my stories. I can be stubborn that way.
ReplyDeleteThe second picture quote you included is actually hanging up on the wall in my office. Reading it over and over gives me so much to contemplate, not to mention I love the feel of the background image. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristin!!! Great Post and Wonderful Quotes!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how true this is and I agree 100%. Never give up especially when you really, really want to because, in the end, you will see all you deserve
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiring quotes! I especially love the one by Harriet Beecher Stowe. How very true it is!

I'm sensing a theme here, lol. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAll good quotes but I've always like Churchill's. Short and simple.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, sometimes you may need to take a bit of a break...
ReplyDeleteI def needed this! been feeling incredibly down lately! Every day I push through though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement and inspiration, Kristin! Sometimes the stumbling blocks can be discouraging. Just have to keep on keeping on...
ReplyDeleteWith my depression, this is easier said than done, most of the time, haha. It's so hard to power through when quitting feels like the best option. (Which has been the case for me and my art lately.) Good luck resisting the urge to quit yourself!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a slow time for my freelance writing (for about a week) and my agent is going on maternity leave, so I've been spinning my wheels! I know it won't always be that way, but sometimes when it gets like this, it feels like it might last forever. It's easy for that insecurity to seep in.
ReplyDeletecouldn't agree with you more! if you do what you need for you - and you don't give up - everything a lines!
ReplyDeleteGreat inspirational post. I needed this today!
ReplyDeleteGreat motto. I often think in my head "Never-say-die," and that's pretty much the same thing, so rock on:)
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes you chose for this post :)
ReplyDeleteSo uplifting, Kristin! Thanks!
