I am so excited to have author Crystal Collier here today to tell us a little about her debut novel and answer a few questions about herself. I gave her some hard ones, and thankfully, she was up to the challenge!
But first, let's take a moment to meet Crystal.
Crystal Collier is a young adult author who pens dark fantasy, historical, and romance hybrids with a thriller pace. She can be found practicing her brother-induced ninja skills while teaching children or madly typing about fantastic and impossible creatures. She has lived from coast to coast and now calls Florida home with her creative husband, three littles, and “friends” (a.k.a. the
Crystal's debut novel, Moonless, was recently released to print. For inquiring minds who want a great read, here's a little teaser.
Jane Eyre meets Supernatural.
Alexia’s nightmares become reality: a dead baron, red-eyed wraiths, and forbidden love with a man hunted by these creatures. After an attack close to home, Alexia realizes she cannot keep one foot in her old life and one in this new world. To protect her family she must either be sold into a loveless marriage, or escape with her beloved and risk becoming one of the Soulless.
If you're interested in obtaining your own copy of Moonless, you can get it HERE.
Soulless, book 2 in the Maiden of Time Trilogy, is scheduled to be released July 2014. Be on the lookout for it, you don't want to miss it!
Now, on to the Interview with Crystal!
List five adjectives to describe yourself.
Creative, determined, musical, caring, and busy.
If you were to create a slogan for your life, what would it be?
If all else fails, eat cheese and be happy.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The power to stop time, to really soak in every moment and enjoy the best of the best.
If you were planning the most awesome dinner party of your life, which 3 celebrities/historical figures (past or present) would you add to your guest list to keep the dinner conversation interesting?
Benjamin Franklin, William Tindale, and Joan of Arc. (I’m little bit of a total history fanatic.)
Benjamin Franklin, William Tindale, and Joan of Arc. (I’m little bit of a total history fanatic.)
If you could only take five things to a deserted island, what would you take?
A lifetime supply of cheese, my hubby, a piano, a constantly reloading kindle with a solar battery, and a teleportation device.
A BIG thank you to Crystal for being a good sport and answering my questions. Doesn't she sound AMAZING!
Also, don't forget to stop by the Unicorn Bell website this week to check out all of the Inspiring Stories--there are some great ones you don't want to miss!
Do YOU have a question you'd like to ask Crystal? Do you LOVE cheese as much as she does? What's your favorite cheese? Have you stopped by Unicorn Bell yet?
LOL, I love that you're taking a teleportation device to the island, Crystal!! That's the perfect way to get around that little problem :) I'm stealing that answer from you! Also, "f all else fails, eat cheese and be happy." - YES!
ReplyDeleteI know, I'm such a cheater, right? But Kristin didn't set any limits. (Sorry for cheating, Kristin!)
DeleteIt's okay, I forgive you! You get bonus points for being creative! :)
DeleteYes! Wait, do those translate to coins, because I can use all the coinage I can get. ;)
DeleteSmart girl with her teleportation device! I totally need a solar-powered Kindle!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! We should infiltrate their brain trust and implant the idea, eh?
DeleteA solar-powered Kindle would be a great invention...any takers?
DeleteRad! I read Moonless...definitely a worthwhile read:)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Mark. You're making me blush. =)
DeleteYes, it is! Spread the word! :)
DeleteI give Moonless a total thumb's up!!
ReplyDeleteA teleportation device...wise answer!!
Aw! I love you, Elizabeth. (And seriously, after all that chatter about my trapped...er...friend scientists, that's the one thing I'd have to bring, right?)
DeleteTwo thumbs from me! And Crystal, I think I need to know more about these slaves--I mean friends--you have locked--I mean are "hosting"--in your basement. :)
DeleteWhat? What are you talking about? *backing away slowly*
DeleteNice to learn more about Crystal! I'm totally in on the cheese thing and getting stranded on an island. Would bring my husband too. Thanks for sharing the interview! :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Husbands and cheese...as long as they don't smell alike...which could become entirely possible on a deserted island... Hm. Guess I'll have to transport in a portable shower, eh? ;)
DeleteCheese is great, just ask Crystal--she'll testify to that!
DeleteBonus points for taking a teleporter!
ReplyDeleteIt's the only way to travel...well, unless you prefer spaceships or two-toed shoes. ;)
DeleteDefinite bonus points! And even more points for coming up with the cool 5 things picture with the "plans" for the device. :)
DeleteLOL! Because if I showed you the actual device, someone might think I'm serious. *shifty eyes* Which I'm not. *shiftier eyes* Ahem! Is that a flying cat?
DeletePerfect superpower. I want that too!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe can share. You can have it on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I'll hold onto it the rest of the time. Deal? ;)
DeleteThat is the ideal superpower. Crystal hit it right on!!
DeleteJane Eyre has that sort of dark flavor to it, doesn't it. Sounds right up my alley, Crystal. Happy Wednesday to you, Kristen.
ReplyDeleteYES! My Pitch Wars coach said it was exactly what she wanted Jane Eyre to be. =)
DeleteHappy Wednesday to you too, M Pax!! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteCongratulations to Crystal! Great reading all about her!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to me. Yay! The only thing better than reading about me is reading my books. *shifty eyes* *whispers* (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
DeleteYes! Congrats to Crystal!! And Crystal's right, if you enjoyed reading about her, you'll love her books!
DeleteOkay Crystal, between your blog and this interview, I'm getting the feeling that cheese is very important to you!
ReplyDeleteNah! It's all your imagination. ;)
DeleteCrystal like cheese? Haha! That's the biggest understatement of the year! :)
DeleteWonderful interview! Very clever to bring a teleportation device to the island. I think I'm going to have my evening snack: cheese and crackers! :) I only have mild cheddar right now, though.
ReplyDeleteMild cheddar is so delicious--almost as savory as squeaky cheese.
DeleteThanks for stopping by Christine! Enjoy your cheese and crackers! I'm sure Crystal wishes she was there to sample some! :)
DeleteI've been trying to eat less carbs here lately, so I've found cheese to be a nice friend when I'm feeling hungry. You'd be so proud, Crystal! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am proud, and it's because of you my cheese is fresh. I've got a sign to prove it!
DeleteYou can't beat a good cheese stick! Especially the jalapeno flavored mozzarella. Yum.
DeleteThe power to stop time would be the greatest power ever.
ReplyDeleteFor sure!! Wish I could...
DeleteYuppers. That's why it's mine. (And Johanna's.) ;)
DeleteDamn that's what I forgot when I get dropped on a deserted island before I return and kick the ass of the idiot who left me there, a teleportation device. Thanks Crystal. I love your adjectives and slogan Crystal. Being happy and eating cheese, what more can you ask for? Soulless coming in July. Plus a little surprise I posted on my blog today that will either make you happy or have you lock yourself in your room with a life supply of cheese. Either way you'll still love me, I hope.
ReplyDeleteShe has a great slogan, doesn't she!
DeleteLOL! Always, Sheena-kay. =)
DeleteFantastic interview, ladies! I loved the questions AND the answers!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you stopped by! :)
DeleteMe too! =D
DeleteNice interview, ladies. And good idea about bringing that teleportation device. (You might have to go get some more cheese!) I can't remember who said it, (Stephen Wright maybe?) but when asked if he could only take one book to a deserted island, which would he take, he said, "How to Build a Boat."
ReplyDeleteI like that answer! You build the boat, you get off the island. That's almost as sneaky as Crystal's teleportation device! :)
DeleteWow, can I take you if I ever get stuck on an island? That was a pretty good list. And who doesn't dream of world domination and an endless supply of cheese.
ReplyDeleteLOL, of course Crystal would find a way to include cheese in her slogan! :P
ReplyDeleteI like cheese too! Goat cheese is my favorite, followed by feta, followed by Havarti dill. LOL
ReplyDeleteWonderful interview. That's a great island list.
ReplyDeleteHello Kristin and Crystal! Am totally adopting Crystal's slogan!! :-) Take care
