H is for Husband

I truly have the best husband. I'm thankful that after the first time I rejected his advances as a young, college student, that he didn't give up on me. He drew back a little (a smart move on his part) which made me realize what I was missing and what my life would be like without him. Needless to say, I didn't like it very much.

I'm thankful for the passionate, romantic, thoughtful man that he is. He is hardworking, determined, incredibly smart (I will never understand how he breezed though undergrad and law school and hardly spent time studying), fun and humorous.

I love Adam's adventuresome spirit; he's lived all over the world and graduated from high school in South Africa. He served a two-year mission in Mexico where he learned Spanish as a second language. His cultural experiences were a big appeal to me- a small town girl born and raised in the same small town until I decided to go out west for college.

He is a teaser and a major button-pusher (trust me, he knows ALL the right buttons to push to get me riled up), but his adorable dimpled smile is enough to make me forgive him for any teasing on my behalf.

Adam is dedicated to his family and his church responsibilities. He is an amazing cook, dancer, father and husband. He is my best friend. He's the one I confide in; the one who believes in me and loves me for who I am.

I love those moments when we are able to get away from the kids for a few hours (or better yet, a few days!) and that time together "reminds us" of the reasons we fell in love. That's why I love the song "Remind Me" by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood because I always think of my husband when I hear it. I might have finally found "our song."

All in all, I found a great one. Those of you out there who are single, don't settle for just any guy. Choose one who will treat you with the respect you deserve, who will love you for who you are and not try to change you into something you're not. And most importantly, marry your best friend.

  1. Amen to this! My husband is the perfect man for me. I always tell our kids to never settle for anything less than what their father and I have. I want our daughter and sons to see him as an example of how a man should treat his wife.

  8. Awww, how sweet! That is the best course of action when someone doesn't seem interested. Walk away and if they're interested, they'll realize it and come find you!
