IWSG February: Make New Friends but Keep the Old

I can't believe it's already the first Wednesday in February! Where is the time going?

But since it's the first Wednesday, it's time for another group posting of the IWSG. A big thank you to Alex Cavanaugh for creating this wonderful support group for writers. And it's never too late to join us! Click HERE to join or for more info.

Well, lots of exciting stuff happening around these parts, but nothing I can talk about yet. Hopefully by the next IWSG I'll have some exciting news to share.

In other news, today I'm meeting with two women I met online through the #PitchWars Twitter party a few months back. We connected, figured out that all three of us write YA and live near Charlotte. We've been trying to plan a day we can meet for months, but with the holidays, it had to take a back burner. Now, we are finally meeting at a little French bakery near uptown. I can't wait!!

I love that as writers we automatically have connections with other writers. And I love that other writers are so willing to give of their time and expertise. One of the greatest things so far about getting serious regarding writing has been meeting so many amazing people who all share the same passion—writing! We may be at different stages on our path to publication, but we all have something in common. We all love to write and we all love to read. Can't get better than that!

What's going on with you?

  2. That's wonderful the three of you will meet. She doesn't write YA, but author Elizabeth S. Craig lives just outside of Charlotte. If you ever get a chance to meet her, do it. She is just a delight.

  6. Connecting with other writers is so much fun. I've never met a writer or blogger I've got to know online in person though.

    Have fun!

  7. I loved my Creative Writing masters for this reason - so many people in one room that loved to write! We came up with some great collaborations. Have a great time!

  9. So happy (and a little envious) that you connected with other YA writers so close to your home! I'm sure you'll enjoy each other. Please take advantage of their nearness. Gosh, I know I would if I finally found YA/MG writers way up here in my neck of the woods.

  10. Oh, that's great! And it's so true. Who else can understand our special kind of crazy better than another writer?
