This month I'm participating in the A to Z blogging challenge and posting every day in April (except Sundays) with the corresponding letter of the day. The theme I chose for this year is 26 Days of Gratitude. I'll be posting about people, places, things, and events in my life I'm grateful for. Today is the letter...

Sometimes we just have to "let it go".
I appreciate all of the advice, words of encouragement, and support my IWSG (Insecure Writer Support Group) post last month generated from fellow writers and friends. Thank you to all those who left a comment. A general theme I noticed and something I've been trying to tell myself for years, is that sometimes you just have to "let it go".
I can't always have a perfectly clean house. I don't have to fix gourmet dinners (not that I ever did that in the first place). I don't have to be the perfect mom and wife. I can't do it all, and that's okay. I'm coming to terms with the fact that it's okay to have overflowing baskets of laundry, dirty dishes in the sink, or unrevised projects on my computer, if it means I get to take my small children to the park for a couple hours.
It's so easy to be hard on myself. It's so easy to want to curl up in bed and not get out to face all that I have to do. But if I just repeat in my head, "let it go", it helps me prioritize. I'm thankful for this phrase that was brought to my attention by the popular Disney movie, Frozen. Cute movie and great song sung by Idina Menzel, but I actually have a version that I like even better. If you're a mother and haven't seen this one yet, then you're in for a real treat. Sit back, relax, and let go for a minute. Trust me, you won't regret it!
In case you have trouble viewing the first one, I uploaded a different Mom Parody that isn't as good as the first, but still gets the point across. Enjoy!
