F is for Family and Friends

As the youngest of five kids myself, I always knew I wanted to have a large family. I just never realized they would come in the form of ALL boys!

Yes, I always pictured myself with a sweet blonde-haired, blue-eyed daughter with a future of Barbies, tea parties, and prom dresses. But it wasn't meant to be.

My family is the greatest blessing I have on this earth, and my most prized possession. Take away my house, my car, our boat, or any other material possession we own, but I can't stand the thought of losing one of my precious children or my wonderful husband. Yikes. The very thought brings tears to my eyes.

I feel so blessed to have five healthy boys and a loving husband. When I think about all I've been given, the thought comes to mind, "my cup runneth over."

How did I get so lucky?

I'm also thankful for good friends who uplift me and make me want to be a better person. I've been blessed with awesome friends over the years, friends who are more like sisters than friends. If you have a friend who stays by your side no matter what choices you make, or what path you take, then you know you have a friend worth keeping.

My two closest friends who have been by my side for the past eight years are moving this summer. One is heading out west and the other is relocating to Tennessee. Our families have done everything together over the years--birthday parties, camping trips, a beach trip, date nights as couples, and celebrated any other special occasion you can think of. My girlfriends and I have even recorded a song together.

Even though there will now be distance between us, I know that we will remain friends forever. No amount of distance could affect the deep love I feel for these amazing women, each with their own set of trials and circumstances. Over the years they have been an example to me as they strive to be the best mother and wife they can be. I'm thankful that eight years ago they came into my life and have left a lasting impression.

  2. Five boys? I guess a daughter was just not meant to be. Just be prepared to be eaten out of house an home. Teenaged boys eat their weight in food every day.

  5. Yowza! And I thought two girls were crazy! (Okay, there is a certain level of drama in my house that is irrepressible.) But 5 boys... ;) Great theme!

  6. Aw! I hate that, when close friends say goodbye. =( We've moved enough times, I just quit making good friends like that for a little bit. Sad, right? But I'm trying to get over it.

Look at those cute boys! I grew up with 5 brothers, and I would have been totally happy to end up with a family of boys. Alas, someone knew that and blessed me with a girl. I'm not 100% sure how to deal with purses, dresses, and makeovers. Screaming and tackle fights I get. *shrugs* We're meant to grow, right?

  10. You have a beautiful family! I can't imagine how you keep up with them all. It's sad your friends are moving away. I hope you can find a way to stay close. Have you ever heard the song "Friends" by Michael W. Smith? It's about that same situation. It's beautiful.
