O is for Opportunities

This month I'm participating in the A to Z blogging challenge and posting every day in April (except Sundays) with the corresponding letter of the day. The theme I chose for this year is 26 Days of Gratitude. I'll be posting about people, places, things, and events in my life I'm grateful for. Today is the letter...

I'm thankful for the opportunities I've been given. When I look back on my life (however short it's been thus far), I feel blessed to have been surrounded by kind, loving people. Every opportunity I've had, whether it be performing in Disney World, or attending college out west, or even writing a novel, has been an amazing part of my life.

When opportunities knock, I want to seize them. But not just that. I want to create my own opportunities so I have no regrets at the end of this life.

Of course, there are some opportunities that I still dream of. Here are a few:

  • The opportunity to become a published author.
  • The opportunity to have a book signing for MY book.
  • The opportunity to read positive reviews of my book.
  • The opportunity to go on a girls' trip with dear friends (okay, that one is more of an indulgence, but what the heck).
Here's a great quote I found by Orison Swett Marden. Pretty much sums up my way of thinking...

What opportunities are you thankful for?

  1. What a fantastic quote!
I love your list of thankful opportunities. ESPECIALLY the girls trip lol...I think I could use a break right now, so maybe that's why? Still, we make these opportunities because we are strong, eh? :D

    1. I was in a show choir in high school that traveled around the area and performed (for pay) at different events, etc. We were invited to perform at Disney World in Cosmos Cafe. It was an amazing experience! We got to go "behind the scenes" of Disney and through all the underground tunnels. We even got to see some of the Disney characters with only half their costumes on. When it was our turn to perform, we actually came up through the ground of the cafe on this disappearing stage. It was pretty cool and an experience I'll never forget! :)

  5. All of those are mine, too! Although my upcoming booksigning is scary. I have to read from my book and then sign. Yikes! What if no one shows up...what if I am a horrible reader?! All those fears keep you from fully enjoying the excitement.

  12. I love that quote! It's something I've been learning, slowly day by day. It's something my mom knew instinctively, which is one of the reasons I miss her so.
